Master of visual storytelling

About
I am a traditional illustrator with a focus in creature art. I love learning about animals and the natural world and throughout my life, that has evolved into making my own creatures. Exploring the human experience through monsters is something I have always been drawn to. I’m greatly inspired by media like Labyrinth, Lord of the Rings, Ghibli films, and fantasy art from the ’80s and ’90s with graphic inking and textures. I make mixed media illustrations using water based paints and black lineart combined with colored pencils or crayons. I like using art supplies that are recognizable to make art that is accessible, imperfect, and undeniably human. I hope that when people look at my illustrated work, they can clearly see that I used watercolors, pen, and crayons to create a whole new world with wacky critters and weird monstrosities. My monsters are just like you, and for you!
Graphic novels are one of my favorite outlets for storytelling and my primary goal is to create my own. Right now, I am working on a story called “We’re All Monsters”. Here, four representatives from destroyed sacred lands will meet to discover and solve whatever problem is killing them. They observe the common monsters of society for the first time and must confront their own ignorance in order to find their strengths among the whole, restore community, and save the world. This is a project I am very passionate about creating and will continue to work towards as I pursue illustration.
